Green & Gold Recap
The Green & Gold Challenge held over June 24th & 25th was headed up by Gold Captain Barry McIntosh and Green Captain Bill Bohannon. This was the third meeting of the event and Mr. McIntosh has an undefeated record of 3-0. The Green & Gold attracted fifty six players in a three nine-hole match competition. The opening ceremony pitted the two captains playing a hole from 150 yards on #18 for a point. Captain McIntosh made a three and was awarded a point to start the festivities.
A two man shamble was the opening nine-hole competition. The Gold Team took the first round lead with an 8-7 lead, the difference being Mr. McIntosh winning the kickoff hole. Saturday afternoon’s opening match, a 2 man best ball, gave the Gold an even greater lead in the event. The Gold won the best ball 8 ½ to 5 ½. The Gold lead after two matches then stood at 16 ½ to 12 ½.
Individual matches rounded out the competition with the Gold narrowly winning 14 ½ to 13 ½. The final score: Gold 31 and Green 26. The final challenge of the season will be a 2 match, 18-hole competition to be held on Saturday, September 17.
